Sevilla vs. Barcelona predictions

The signs have been good early this season for Barcelona as they seek to reclaim the La Liga title they last won in 2019. So far this season, after an opening day goalless draw at home to Rayo Vallecano, they have won two from two, scoring an impressive eight goals.

Robert Lewandowski was bought by Barcelona to be the main talisman as the club move forward post-Messi and the Pole has already bagged four goals in three games, suggesting that he does not need any time to adjust.

The upcoming clash with Sevilla on paper does promise to be their trickiest match of the season so far. However, it has not been a good start to the campaign for Julen Lopetegui’s side who have picked up only one point from three games.

They also have a terrible league record against Barcelona, not winning any match since October 2015 and a rejuvenated Blaugrana will sense this as a big opportunity to take three valuable points.

Real Madrid vs. Real Betis predictions

Defending champions Real Madrid kick off their home games for this season after playing their first three matches away due to renovations of their Bernabeu Stadium. Considering they have not had the full backing of their home faithful, three wins from three will have pleased boss Carlo Ancelotti.

They have scored nine goals already and look like the team to beat in the division, even though others appear to have got stronger. Karim Benzema stepped up against Espanyol at the weekend to score two late goals to seal a 3-1 win.

Something will have to give this weekend as they face Real Betis side, who have also won three from three. The defending Copa del Rey champions have beaten Elche, Osasuna, and Mallorca in their first three fixtures, letting in just one goal with former Los Blancos boss Manuel Pellegrini turning them into a very solid unit.

Villarreal vs. Elche predictions

Villarreal are another side who have enjoyed a very strong start to the La Liga season, picking up seven points from five games.

Unai Emery’s side, who stunned Bayern Munich last season to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, have yet to concede a goal so far and they look like a side who could potentially challenge for a top four spot in La Liga. A 2-0 win at Diego Simeone Atletico Madrid could go some way to cementing those credentials.

Their first home match of the season sees Elche visit and they have had almost an opposite beginning to the new season having picked up only one point from three matches. Elche have scored only one goal as well and a tough season lies ahead.

Villarreal have not been beaten at home by Elche since their first meeting in May 2013 and last season saw the Yellow Submarine win convincingly 4-1.
