Scottie Scheffler the favourite to win the US Open according to bookmaker Pinnacle

Ahead of the competition, bookmaker Pinnacle has earmarked Scottie Scheffler as the man to back at 5.20, but will he triumph at the competition this year?

Pinnacle currently make Scottie Scheffler the big favourite to win the 2024 US Open, with the American currently priced at 5.20 to triumph this year. 

Rory McIlroy is the best of the rest at 12.41, with Xander Schauffele, Viktor Hovland and Jon Rahm all next in line as we head towards the event. The betting then begins to stretch as the options outside of the top five begin to look very long. 

The competition will once again see the best golfers in the men's game battling for supremacy. However, with Scheffler considerably shorter than any other option ahead of the event, it may become a case of the field battling to stop the favourite. 

The likes of McIlroy and Schauffele have the skill to win this one, but Scheffler has been in fine form of late, and he will prove very tough to stop. 

In 2023, it was Wyndham Clark that came out on top as he secured victory at the Los Angeles Country Club. Clark was pushed all the way by McIlroy, with the latter shooting -9. Meanwhile, Clark shot -10 to take the money, trophy and glory. 

This year's favourite finished in third as he shot -7. This time round, he will look to better his placement and secure the glory in North Carolina. Clark is available in the betting in 2024, but at 44.86, his chances of defending his crown are slim according to the odds.
