Euro 2024 continues to edge closer, with the biggest tournament in European football promising more of the brilliant thrills and spills we have come to expect from the competition.

With the big event just around the corner, bookmaker Pinnacle have made England the favourites to top Group C at 1.44, but are they the side to back to finish in first place in the group?

England have seemingly been on an upwards trajectory in recent years, with the nation looking more like a team that can challenge for major silverware at the biggest competitions in football.

Ahead of the Euros, England find themselves priced at 1.44 to top Group C. Finishing at the summit of the group would be a major statement from England, although most will feel they should easily top their group considering the opposition they will face.

Denmark find themselves next in line at 4.96, with Serbia (8.50) and Slovenia (15.05) the outsiders to top the group.

For England, this should be the perfect chance for the nation to build up a good run of wins as they look to go deep in the tournament.

Still hurting after their near-miss in the 2020 Euros in which they were beaten on penalties by Italy in the final, Gareth Southgate will feel that the natural next step will be to win the competition.

However, old issues have hamstrung England in the past, with the side often failing to come good on all of the potential in their side. With the likes of Harry Kane, Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham all in great form this season, the Euros should simply see these world class players continue their form.

As the odds suggest, Denmark pose the biggest problem for England, with the side showing food form in major competitions of late. With some quality players and the chance to gain a stunning win over England in the group, they will relish the chance to down the favourites.

Which side do you think will top Group C? Can England come good on all of the quality in their side, or will another of the nations stun them and finish at the summit?
