Euro 2024 is approaching quickly, with barely any time elapsing between the end of the club season and the beginning of the biggest competition open to the best nations in Europe.

Ahead of the tournament, bookmaker Pinnacle have made Spain the side to back to top Group B at Euro 2024 at 1.80, but are they the team to back?

Spain will be eyeing up the Euro 2024 trophy this year, but they will need to progress from one of the toughest groups in the competition. The Spanish are currently the favourites to go through top at 1.80.

Reigning European champions Italy are right behind them at 3.28, while Croatia (5.32) and Albania (26.45) make up a tough group.

Spain have fared pretty well at major competitions over the last 20 years in particular, although they have found things slightly tough in recent years. Indeed, a second-placed finish in their group at the 2022 World Cup saw Spain eliminate Germany and Costa Rica, but they were left stunned by Morocco in a 0-0 draw that saw them knocked out on penalties in the Round of 16.

For Italy, things have been slightly better. The Italians arrive for Euro 2024 as the reigning champions after securing the Euro 2020 trophy. They battled through a tough draw as they downed Austria, Belgium, Spain and England on their way to glory, beating the latter on penalties in the final.

Croatia have always been a side that seem to save their best for World Cups and the Euros. They continually push the envelope with regard to what many think is possible for the side, and they have always proved to be a tough side to beat.

For Albania, this one looks like a tough assignment. They arrive with odds of 26.45 to top the group, although they will likely be on the lookout for a point from one of their three games after being drawn into a very difficult group.

With the competition seeing so much football played in a short space of time, anything could happen. While we not particularly optimistic on Albania's chances of getting out of the group, any of the other three sides could top Group B, making this a very interesting group to bet on.
