The French Open is fast approaching, with the second Grand Slam of the year promising to see the best players in the world of tennis coming together for a thrilling fight to be the last player standing.

Ahead of the tournament, bookmaker Pinnacle has priced Novak Djokovic to fail to win the French Open at 1.29. Will the star defy the odds and lift the French Open trophy this year?

Novak Djokovic has been at the pinnacle of the game of tennis for well over a decade, and he is still at the peak of his powers, with the Serb continually winning matches and adding trophies to his cabinet.

However, Pinnacle make a Djokovic triumph this summer the underdog in the betting, with the player priced at 3.65 to lift the trophy at Roland Garros. Meanwhile, he is 1.29 to miss out on lifting the trophy in France this year.

Djokovic arrives for the 2024 French Open as the reigning champion after beating Casper Ruud in three sets in 2023. His triumph last year backed up his win in 2021. Djokovic's two crowns have been the only thing that breaks up Rafael Nadal's dominance at the event, with the Spaniard winning five of the last seven competitions.

Nadal will hope to play at the 2024 French Open in what will almost certainly be his final run out at the Slam. While most neutrals will want to see Nadal walk away from his final French Open in fairytale style, Djokovic will have little time for sentiment as he looks to notch another Grand Slam crown.

Similarly worrying for Djokovic will be both Carlos Alcaraz, who has been in great form in recent years, and Casper Ruud, who has finished as runner-up in both 2022 and 2023. Some believe Ruud will finally come good on his decent runs in the last two tournaments, while Alcaraz has been the one to back in many events as he continues to improve.

Can Djokovic add his fourth French Open crown to his collection, or will the bookmakers be proved correct as he crashes out without the trophy?
